This time of the year can be busy! (We know for it gets crazy over here at Monarch stocking the shelves for all the Hoosier holiday parties!) That’s why we’ve asked Rigo, a local beer expert, to make selecting our favorite winter beer simple. Today, he’s talking Anchor Christmas Ale. Anchor is a craft brewery out of California.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Anchor Christmas Ale is very unique in that the recipe is different every single year along with the tree on the label. This is the fourty-first annual brewing and I sure am excited about it. In 2015, the bottle has a Deodar Cedar — or “timber of the gods.” What’s more impressive, though, is in the bottle. It’s considered a winter warmer – with a pitch black color, off-white head and aromas of dark fruit and spices. It’s a medium-bodied lightly carbonated. 5.5% ABV brew, but you really can’t taste the alcohol on the palate. Perfect beer to keep you warm on cold winter day.
